The buck was a big 10-pointer I discovered in live photos during mid-October here in Wisconsin. Although each photo of him over the next 10 days was taken well after dark, I was confident he'd become more daylight active once the rut kicked into gear.. The big 10-pointer eventually worked his way to within 15 yards of my stand, then made.

A ten-point buck is effectively a buck with five points on either side of its rack or antlers. However, to accurately describe a ten-point buck would be to say that it has three standing points on either side. Hence it has three standing points, the brown tine point, and the main beam point. A total of five points on either side of the buck's head.

A 3-5 Years Old Buck. If you spot a 10-point buck, you could probably be staring at a three to five-year-old buck. After about five and a half years, a buck's antlers may start to shrink in size, and you may need other factors to distinguish their ages. However, a mature and healthy three to five-year-old buck will have ten points on its antlers.

The rack tallied an official net score of 190 2/8 inches as a typical, likely enough to rank second all-time in Ohio for P&Y typicals. The current Ohio typical P&Y record buck tops 198 inches. What makes this buck's rack so unique is how large, massive and clean his 10-point frame is.

After determining that the buck was at least a 10-pointer, Alex deliberately avoided looking at the antlers again in an effort to maintain his composure. Finally, at 25 yards, the buck passed behind some mature maples, and Alex used the opportunity to bring his Diamond Archery Black Ice compound bow to full draw. The buck shuffled the last five.

Record each typical upward-jutting point, starting with the brow tine (called the G-1), then the next point (G-2) and so on. On an 8-point buck you'll have three measurements (since the "fourth" point, the tip of the main beam, is already included in that main beam measurement). A 10-pointer will have four on each side, a 12-pointer five.

With this method you can quickly determine that a buck with two standing normal points per side is a 4x4 or 8-pointer, and with three standing points per side he is a 5x5 or 10-pointer, and so on, with the exception of Coues' whitetail. Nearly all the bucks that make the records book have at least five normal points per side.

Look for a deer with ten points on its antlers. This is the most obvious way to identify a ten-point buck. Measure the length of the deer's antlers. If the antlers are at least ten inches long, you may be looking at a ten-point buck. Check the size of the points. If the points are large and evenly spaced, you may be looking at a ten-point buck.

Jason Jordan's 206-1/8-inch monster is the perfect 10-pointer. This buck has no stickers or abnormal points of any kind. For further proof of that, the right antler scores 93 5/8 inches and the left antler scores 95 2/8 inches. That's only 3 2/8 inches of difference between the two sides!
